Kotu Beach is broad and backed by palms. The Kotu Stream, a mangrove-lined creek, reaches the sea here, and the creek is one of the best-known birdwatching spots on the coast.
It's generally calmer than Senegambia, with beach bars and hotels close to the sand.
Sea conditions change. Follow lifeguard flags where posted and ask locally before swimming.
