What it is
Albert Market in Banjul is the capital's central market, with fabrics, crafts, spices and produce. Serekunda has the country's busiest market, and there are craft markets near the coast, including in Bakau and the Senegambia area.

Markets are the best place to see everyday life and to buy textiles, carvings and batik from the people who make and sell them.
Cultural and historical significance
Craft traditions such as tie-dye, batik and woodcarving are a living part of Gambian culture and an important income for many families.
